Recognizing Contributions to Atmospheric and Space Electricity Science

The Atmospheric and Space Electricity Early Career Award is presented biennially in even years and recognizes significant contributions to atmospheric and space electricity science from honorees within 10 years of receiving their Ph.D. degree. Notable contributions can include the awardee’s high research impact, innovative interdisciplinary work, educational accomplishments such as teaching, mentoring, or course development, or positive societal impact. This award also serves to acknowledge the awardee’s exceptional promise for sustained contributions and continued leadership in atmospheric and space electricity.

The award is presented at the Atmospheric and Space Electricity Business Meeting during AGU's annual meeting.

Honor Benefits
Recipients receive the following:

  • An award plaque and certificate
  • Recognition in Eos
  • Recognition at AGU's annual meeting during the award presentation year
  • Registration to AGU's annual meeting the year the award is presented
  • An invitation to present a talk in the general session for the Section at AGU's annual meeting during the award presentation year
  • Two tickets to the Atmospheric and Space Electricity Business Meeting that occurs in the year of the award. (This event is currently not ticketed and free to Section members)

About the Atmospheric and Space Electricity Section

This section is responsible for fostering atmospheric and space electricity science within AGU. It is also charged with building interdisciplinary interaction and educating AGU members about the nature and importance of problems and issues in atmospheric and space electricity.

Eligibility

Nominee
The nominee must be:
  • an active AGU member
  • within 10 years of receiving their Ph.D. or the highest equivalent terminal degree.
